The Oxbow Eco-Center

The Oxbow Eco-Center in Port St. Lucie received almost 90 feet of custom built wood fence as a donation from A Great Fence.  The donation also included a 10 foot double-drive gate.  A Great Fence worked with local Boy Scouts on the donation and installation at Oxbow.

Protecting 225 acres of natural habitats along the North Fork of the St. Lucie River amid a squeeze of subdivisions in Port St. Lucie, Oxbow Eco-Center provides room to ramble. Centered on a well-presented Exhibit Hall and Discovery Center that tells the story of the habitats and their inhabitants, the trail system includes a 3.8-mile loop with several shorter options. A spur trail shows off scenic views of the river from a bluff.

About the Oxbow Eco-Center

The Oxbow Eco-Center is an environmental learning center located on a 225-acre preserve on the North Fork of the St. Lucie River. Oxbow Eco-Center offers 3 ½ miles of hiking trails and is where young and old alike can discover the mysterious and hidden life of the forest and river.

The preserve offers a rare glimpse of “the real Florida” – a place where the past and the present come alive in the canopy of the floodplain forest, the scrub and pine flatwoods and in the primordial swamps and wetlands.

Make-A-Wish - Fence Donation

A Great Fence Makes a Difference

Make-A-Wish meets A-Great-Fence

When a call came in for help, Darrick Bailey, owner of A Great Fence in Port St. Lucie, was there to answer the call.  That call came from a mother and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  Her daughter has cancer; and her WISH was for a backyard Oasis.

Unfortunately, the Make-A-Wish Foundation wasn’t able to cover the cost of the new fence.  When word got back to Bailey, he immediately got involved to make the wish come true.

An Aluminum Wish Come True

A Great Fence donated and installed 87-feet of 4-foot tall 2- rail dark bronze Aluminum fence with a 4-foot tall walk-through gate.  With the fence in place, the Make-A-Wish Foundation is now able to complete the backyard Oasis.

A Great Fence LLC, has played an integral role in helping local families in need.

“We can’t help everyone,” stated Bailey.  “But we are very happy to help when we can.  We are fortunate to live in a community where so many are willing to lend a hand.”

Local Fence for a Local Family

Recently the crew at A Great Fence became aware of a family in need in Port St. Lucie. It seemed that the family was in desperate need of a fence enclosure, but the mother was dealing with health challenges. After surveying the property, Darrick Bailey and his team jumped right in to lend a hand.

A Great Fence donated an aluminum fence to the Port St. Lucie family.  This included all materials, installation and labor costs. But that was only enough to cover the cost project. They still needed a permit from the city to get the work done. Therefore, after hearing the story, several local employees at the City of Port St Lucie pooled their own money and covered the cost of the permit for the project.

“It’s a great local family and they needed a little help,” stated Bailey.  “It’s especially fitting during the holidays, the season of giving.  We love our community and feel very fortunate that we are able to help.  Hopefully, it will help their holidays be a little merrier.”

The Lowe’s Home Improvement Store on US One in Jensen Beach recently had new security fences installed for their Lawn and Garden Department. They are there to prevent the products from mysteriously wandering off. They also help to control the flow of traffic in the designated area. The company contracted with us to install the security fences because it also allows them to leave their products out overneight.

The other type of security fences are fence which are designed to keep people In and direct the flow of traffic. This is especially important when your facility has to deal with large numbers of visitors, as in the case of the Flying Panda. It is now a major facility on Peacock Blvd. in St. Lucie West adjacent to First Data Field, but when we were called in to help with security fence and barrier netting, it was little more than a warehouse.
